Fincantieri: agreement with Aspi on motorway monitoring

TRIESTE, 12 NOV 2020

The subsidiary of Fincantieri NexTech (formerly Insis SpA), a solution provider in IT and electronics, has signed an agreement with Autostrade Tech (Autostrade per l'Italia Group; Aspi) and IBM for a new generation system for monitoring and safety of motorway infrastructure.

The agreement has a multi-year duration and provides for joint activation, marketing and maintenance of the system itself.

This will come into operation on the Aspi network at the end of the month. The initiative is part of the activities of Aspi, which has long since started a project for the surveillance of bridges, viaducts, flyovers and tunnels.

Fincantieri NexTech, which has expertise in optronics, telecommunications, information technology and cybersecurity, with the partners has structured a platform based on IBM's artificial intelligence, which will make use of drones, IoT (Internet of Things) and digital modeling 3D, to monitor the more than 4,500 works on the motorway network. The system will also be made available to other European and international motorway concessionaires.

The deal will be unveiled on November 24 at a remote event.
